Opened in 2019 by Emma and Tom Beecham, who'd worked in cafes around Newcastle for a decade and wanted to do their own thing — without the corporate menu, the loyalty app, or the soundtrack of overpriced acoustic covers.
We work with two local roasters — Suspension and Welder. Beans get used within four weeks of roast. Grinders calibrated daily.
Eggs from Hunter Valley free-range farms. Bacon from Branxton butcher. Cocoa, tea, sugar all fair-trade certified. Costs more, tastes better.
If we're good, you'll come back. If you don't want a coffee, we won't ask twice. We're a cafe, not a subscription.
We hire experienced baristas — the bar is "you've been on a busy machine before". Pay above award. Trade-up: a free coffee on every shift, a free meal if you work over 6 hours.
